After the failure of qualification to Volta ao Porto the team turned their objectives to the Monte Rosa Tour. This tour was of good memories to the team, having won the YC and getting a fifth place in GC, both by Élvio Aguiar.
However Aguiar was unrecognizable since the middle of last season, having a result drought for 65 days. Many said that he was finished, that as many young riders the fame as gone to his head and that he was going to have a mediocre career.
The team management never thought that, they know Aguiar and knows that he is a hardworking rider and this was a bad phase of his career that would end at Monte Rosa. But that was not what happened.
First stage of MRT was a prologue that suited the tour rider skills of Aguiar and where he was fourth last season, so expectations were high. At the end of the day a miserable 29th place was what he could get, since this was only a prologue not much time was lost.
Second stage a hilly race that was where Aguiar lost most of the time for the GC contention last season, as expected that this season with help of Zhanpeng, a hilly specialist, he could overcome the hills and get a nice position. He did better than last season but still below expectations with a 12th place. After this stage the supporters of the team were losing patience with Aguiar lack of results, but team management knew the Aguiar’s climbing abilities well and knew what he was capable of.
Third stage, king stage of the tour, high mountain race with lot of hard climbs where the GC contenders would be filtered from the rest of the pack. This time the mountain maniac Aguiar woke up and got the second place, rising to the fifth place of GC. Motivation was high now in CycleMotor team and everyone hoped that Aguiar early days were back.
Fourth stage, more mountain suited for Aguiar skills and again he showed why he was nominated for Best Young Rider of season 15 getting a third place and rising to the third place of GC.
Fifth stage, parade stage for the sprinters to show their speed, but Aguiar was feeling good and wanted to make use of his flat road skill since he disappointed in the prologue, and like in the last two stages he got another result, second place just behind of Hall Haswell.
After Monte Rosa everyone in CycleMotor team are with a smile in the face, they got back to the results and got a renewed Aguiar that everyone hopes to keep this recent form for the rest of the season.

He always fails at least in one stage.
That was an impressive sprint tonight :). Aguiar and Czechowski were the best 2 riders in MRT, but not consistent enough to get passed Jeremy. It.feels really good to win a Tour. Aguiar should win a tour like MRT at least once with his qualities:)
Lets hope he can keep it up for the CoN!
